Robert Hileman
Owner / Founder

Robert has been in the service industry his entire career. Starting in medical services, he discovered his passion on the business side of Healthcare and quickly found himself starting his own Service Company. The last 20 years of his life has been spent providing specialty tax services to national clientele. Assisting clients to ensure they only pay the appropriate amount of state and local taxes has become his focus and that of his company, while satisfying the growing need for quality state and local tax representation.

Kent Hileman, MAI, ASA, CMI
Owner / Founder

Kent is an owner and founder of SALT Solutions and has been working in State and Local Tax for almost 20 years. He has been involved in the taxation of a multitude of property / business types including over 400 hospitals plus thousands of hotels, golf courses, industrial, warehouse, office buildings, and more. He holds the highest designations as it relates to appraisal, valuation and State and Local Tax. They include the MAI from the Appraisal Institute, ASA in real property from the American Society of Appraisers, ASA in appraisal review and management from the American Society of Appraisers, CMI from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, and MRICS from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors. He was a member of the 2011 IPT Symposium Committee and presented during the hotel / healthcare breakout session on various topics and issues surrounding the valuation of these complex properties as it relates to tax.

Rees Linn, CMI

Rees Linn joined SALT Solutions in 2015 after working for nearly a decade in a Big 4 environment, where he developed his consulting expertise working primarily with healthcare and manufacturing organizations. Through his career, Rees has built the skillset needed to enable him to gather the information needed to understand client concerns, build solutions, and communicate customized sales and use tax advice to his clients. His experience has allowed him to foster relationships with various contacts at multiple state agencies, fortune 500 companies, and law firms that allow him to stay abreast of key issues facing businesses at a time when states are aggressively pursuing additional revenue streams. Rees works tirelessly to create a culture of teamwork and collaboration within SALT Solutions to enable his staff to develop winning strategies and ideas in the areas of reverse audits, audit defense, tax matrices and research, nexus studies, compliance, and voluntary disclosures. Rees has obtained the designation of CMI in sales tax from the Institute for Professionals in Taxation.

Leslie Moreland

Leslie is an active Certified Public Accountant practicing in Kansas. In addition to her years as a sales and use tax auditor with the Kansas Department of Revenue, she has experience in sales and use tax consulting at a Big 4 accounting firm and in multi-national tax departments. She has been managing audits and working with audit departments across the U.S. to obtain outcomes that were fair and accurate for most of her career dating back to 2002. Her experience spans across several industries but primarily railroad, transportation, manufacturing, repair, telecommunications, and health care. She has experience in the areas of reverse audits, compliance, and voluntary disclosures.

She recently joined SALT Solutions after managing the tax department of a national company with 40 locations across the U.S. and Canada and has run a tax department for an international Class I railroad. In that position she was responsible for sales and use tax, Canadian VAT taxes, income tax compliance and various credit programs, fixed assets, property tax, fuels taxes, unclaimed property, and various other tax filing obligations.
